Hands 4 Events isn't an agency dreamed up in a boardroom. It grew out of years backstage, starting at the age of 8. Today there is crew ready for the biggest shows in Belgium, and the man behind the planning still works on the floor himself.
THE SPORTPALEIS
AS MY PLAYGROUND.
My first ‘job’ in the event world? Handing flowers to artists on the stage of Night of the Proms. I was eight. My father, Wies Gios, was security manager at the Sportpaleis, and I was allowed to come along. Backstage, before the audience arrived, while the crew was still building. That's where I learned that a show is only a show because dozens of people make sure everything is on time, works, and gets out again.
Later I became a runner at Icarus Event Control, my father's security firm based at the Sportpaleis. Errands, planning, admin, welcoming security agents — I learned the trade from the inside out, without ever reading a word of theory about it.

In 2007 my father Wies founded Hands 4 Events. He saw that production houses kept asking for loose, reliable hands, and no one was tackling that in a structural way. I was already working with him at the time, and got the chance to build out Hands 4 Events.
In 2009 I took over completely. Since then, Hands 4 Events has been my life's work: one man running the company, backed by a pool of 200+ crew members who actually do the work. A one-man show, yes... but Hands 4 Events is nothing without its team.

They come from a full venue dancing, from people overjoyed because they finally see their idol. That's the moment we work for.
For those six seconds where twenty thousand people put their hands in the air at the same time.That's why I'm still on the floor myself. Not because I have to, but because I can't miss that after-show adrenaline at 4am. An empty venue still humming, a crew that's wrecked but still laughing, a fully loaded truck leaving just in time for the next city. That's my work.
